Food & Wine

Clean and green, the lush pastures and unpolluted waters of the Eurobodalla Coast and its hinterland supply the perfect conditions for producing some of Australia’s – and the world’s – finest food. From oyster farmers to apiarists, small specialist producers abound in the region, and many are happy to sell direct to the public. We have great cheeses, honeys, homemade chutneys and jams, and the gardens grow wild with fresh fruit and aromatic herbs. Visit our berry farms and pick your own bucketful.

Our hugely popular Gourmet Trails brochure, which features self-drive tours of the region’s fresh produce suppliers as well as details of local markets, is available from Eurobodalla Coast Visitor Information Centres.

The Nature Coast might justifiably be called the Oyster Coast, with many of our clean, clear waterways producing delicious shellfish at prices which are equally refreshing. In summer the shiny fresh prawns are holidays personified.

The Eurobodalla Coast makes a speciality of waterfront fish shops with stunning water views – the fish isn’t bad either! At these outlets you can sample freshly caught local fish served with chips and lemon on the side, or purchase the latest catch to take home and cook yourself. Visitors are spoiled for choice when it comes to sampling the local seafood – try shops at Narooma’s Wagonga Inlet, Batemans Bay promenade, Tuross boatsheds, and along Beach Road from Batemans Bay right down the coast to Broulee and Moruya.

The South Coast is an emerging wine region with Tilba Valley Winery at Tilba offering tastings and sales. Enjoy a ploughmans lunch at Tilba Valley Winery while you take in the stunning views over the vineyards.

The restaurants and cafes of the Eurobodalla Coast are diverse and high in quality. Many feature local produce, especially seafood, on their menus, and some have views which offer an unforgettable dining experience. Al fresco, a la carte, latte by the river, breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between – what are holidays for if not indulging?
