When you first arrive in Batemans Bay and venture over the Clyde River Bridge you can't help but notice the beauty of this town and its river dotted with a myriad of boats of all types, shapes and sizes.
It can be easy for residents to take for granted how inextricably linked they are to water and what it means to them. It means sailing, fishing, swimming, surfing, snorkelling, paddling, cruising, kayaking, body boarding, gazing at rock pools and even beach cricket. The Clyde River is popular with estuary fishers chasing bream and flathead, while offshore there’s excellent reef and game fishing. Batemans Bay is home to the famous Clyde River oyster. Seafood features prominently on the menu of the many local waterside restaurants. Batemans Bay offers families lots to do in the great outdoors, there’s mini golf, an animal park (where you can cuddle a wombat or a snake!), tennis, museums and galleries, and come summertime a carnival with amusements galore.
